The perfect classical half hour
Episode m0002mqc, broadcast at Thursday 1st July 2021, 7:00pm, and Tuesday 19th February 2019, 7:00pm.
“In Tune's specially curated playlist: an eclectic mix of music, taking you on a journey of contrasts, beginning with Baroque eloquence from Arcangelo Corelli, a haunting Spanish song by Manuel de Falla and a lively movement from Beethoven's first symphony. There is some ecstatic and joyous orchestral music from Poulenc and Malcolm Arnold, and ethereal, sublime moments are provided by Renaissance Portuguese composer João Lourenço Rebelo and the incomparable Rebecca Clarke. At the centre of the sequence is a lush, laid back arrangement of Hoagy Carmichael's classic "Stardust", performed with characteristically smooth swagger by the jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis.
