Tafelmusik and teatime
Episode m00066rt, broadcast at Friday 28th June 2019, 7:00pm.
“Mozart's 'dinner music' Divertimento, K270, meets King Creosote for tea in a Scottish cafe along with Debussy's evocation of a sunny morning in Spain, Le Matin d'un jour de fete. There's also a medieval hymn to St Magnus of Orkney, and the rhythmic Jyomuran by Japanese percussionist Midori Takada, followed by the transcendental sorrow of Brahms's Second Intermezzo, Op 117. And to close, the brilliantly subversive tour de force that is JS Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No 4.”
