The perfect classical half hour
Episode m001kvpc, broadcast at Tuesday 18th April 2023, 7:00pm.
“Your Classical Mixtape is full of emotion, drama and surprises, opening with the royal pomp of 17th-century Versailles. There are melodies full of passion with Bizet's 'Carmen' and Verdi's 'Luisa Miller', iconic film scores by Nino Rota for Federico Fellini's '8½' (1963), and by Philip Glass for Paul Shrader's 'Mishima' (1985). Sitting alongside are some intimate moments with lesser-known composers such as Baldassare Galuppi and Pauline Viardot, a 'Nutcracker' reinvented by jazz genius Duke Ellington, and a baroque extravaganza from Rameau and Telemann. Producer: Julien Rosa”
